SAH DJ Set @ Sway SD

My DJ Set last Friday at Club Sway in SD was a freaking blast!  Thank you to all the homies who came out to support and watch my lard ass do my thang up on da stage (almost sounds like I stripped or sumthin).  Still haven't been able to gather any quality photos as of late but I was sent this amazing HD video by me bro.  Too bad the only clip that was found was when I completely baunched it during my abso facking totes fav Ke$ha song (omg lol) because some asshole threw a George Michaels bobbing head doll at my mixer, knocked over the whole DJ booth, threw lighter fluid on the walls, unleashed piranas into all the kegs, summoned lightening bolts upon the club, and sat back laughing while the whole place erupted in fury...

Went to the Creme De La Creme DTSD last Thursday as thrown by Dub Frequency, Live Nation, and our homeys at The Ampal Creative.  As expected, Betraxx and Niq G tore the place a new electro asshole!  On another note, Gotta Dance Dirty DJ Dr. Schlongo prefixed the madness with a more than epic set filled with synth heavy electro heaters like the above Grum remix.  The set (and this song in particular) took me straight back to the 80's when people wore leather, danced in the streets, and rocked wayfarers at night (come to think of it not much has changed).  If you haven't seen the music vid, I suggest you do (no homo).

Myrtle Monday Guest Post: Pistols And Lipstick

 Good morning and good Monday to all!  (RIP MLK)
Today I have a very special treat in store for all you Myrtle Monday lovers out there.  My homey and fellow blogger Courtney, straight up runs shit around these parts when it comes to fashion, frothing, and all things roots!  Her blog entitled Pistols and Lipstick was born about 6 months ago and to say that it's truly captivating, wouldn't even begin to give it justice!

 From fashion myrts, to art myrts, 80's myrts to blonde pin-up myrts, myrts in stripes and myrts by trains, I sometimes feel as though I'm visiting the Myrt Mart (if such a heaven exists) when salivating at her blog.  Not only is it chalk filled with frothy myrtness, ultimately, Pistols and Lipstick is a place where one can find "day-to-day inspiration through a range of lifestyles and creative expression".  With such a talented eye for art, fashion, inspiration, and beauty, it surprises me that I didn't think of doing this sooner.  It is with much pleasure that I introduce my first ever Myrtle Monday Guest Post brought to you by Pistols and Lipstick.  Take it away buddy...

So my Myrtle of the week goes to rock- star princess Georgia Jagger. Not only is she the fresh face for Chanel, Hudson Jeans, Versace and Rimmel make-up but she has covered the pages of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Vanity Fair all in the past year! 

Miss Jagger is the daughter of legendary Rolling Stone's front man, Mick Jagger, and won "Model of The Year" last year for the British Fashion awards. 

Her big blonde locks and plump lips got me saying Ooohh Weee!

Friday Flicks

Went somewhat big last night at Downtown's Art Walk (32 beerz, a Jager bomb,  a gallon of silk, 2 flaming Hendo's, toad legs, a shot of absinthe, a jar of pickle juice, 2 quail eggs, an oreo wrapped in jalapenos, one shooie, a melvin, and a surfer on acid) so I'm a lil hazy.  While I gather my thoughts and clean out the cobwebs, let the videos below do all the work of entertaining until I come back down to Earth.  See you all at The V-Lounge tonight for Cassian, round 2 yewwwwwwww!  

Derek Dunfee's "Down With The Ship" Now Online!

My homey and hometown hero Derek Dunfee has been on a freaking tear lately!  Not only did he win this year's Best Wipe Out of the Year at Surfer Poll, he also won Volcom's Ripper of Da Swell, and his docu flick entitled Down With the Ship won Best Short Documentary in the California Surf Festival!  I've blogged a few times (here, here, and here, oh yeah and here) about the making of his film, the premiere of his film, and the radness that is his film!  If you haven't gotten a chance to see for yourself why there's so much buzz surrounding this sick flick, now's your chance!  Derek just put up the Free Online Premiere of Down With The Ship!

Just received some radical pics in my interweb mailbox from my buddy Derek V!  Derek was shralping in Aus and the surrounding areas this past year and was kind enough to spread the SAH froth along the way.  Awesomely enough, he slapped up a sticker right in front of Joyo's Surf Camp at G-Land!  Big ups D Man, thanks!

Top Dawgz: Best Album

2010 saw albums from the likes of such indie/electrohell legends as: MGMT, Eminem, Crystal Castles, Robyn, Yeasayer, Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, and more.  With so much great music constantly being pumped out by the usual suspects, plus an infinite new list of break through performers who caught me off guard, it definitely was not easy trying to narrow down so much good music into this year's Top Dawgz: Best Album.

After further review, I take that back, it was actually quite easy!  It's pretty much a no-brainer that this year's best album goes to Arcade Fire with their album entitled "The Suburbs".  With an endless list of hits including: "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)", "The Suburbs", "Ready to Start", and my all time fav "We Used To Wait", The Suburbs is jam packed with phenomenal melodies, nostalgic lyrics that quite often make you reflect on your youth, and a never ending spirit to make us feel good!  If you haven't boughten The Suburbs yet, I strongly suggest you do!

Myrtle Monday: Sky Ferreira

Normally, the only kind of bubble gum pop I seldom enjoy is the kind that gets stuck to my leg and not the kind that reaches my ears...  Today is a new day.   I came across Sky Ferreira's cover of Miike Snow's song entitled "Animal" (great late night myrt-froth song) and was immediately enthralled by her captivating voice.  Then I peeped some of her vids and soon learned of her mytness.   Today my myrt cap goes to you Skizler Ferrizle!

Hands down, best music video of 2010 has to be Rad Omen's: Rad Anthem.  Winning by a long shot, this video steals the prize for 2010 Top Dawgz: Best Music Video.  No explanation necessary, shut the fuck up and watch:

2010 Top Dawgz: Dane Reynolds

 King of progression and master of style, it's no surprise that Dane Reynolds takes the cake for this year's Top Dawg: Most Progressive Maneuver.  Whether it was some of the mental shit he pulled in the videos on his blog or the mind-boggling tricks that he landed under pressure during comps, Dane showed the World round that he is the most exciting surfer on the planet. 

Out of the countless insane tricks that DR busted this year, I gotta say that his frontside slob grab 360 air that he boosted at Lowers (last wave of video below) was definitely the one that stood out in my mind as the most progressive..    

2010 Top Dawgz: Miami Horror

Here's the part where I jump on the band wagon and start to list some of my top favorite songs/videos/airs/barrells/myrts/froths/pukes/sexual positions etc of 2010.  Lets start things off with one of my favorite bands of 2010; Miami Horror.

With hits including: Make You Mine, I Look To You, Illumination, Holidays, and a handful of remixes (most notably I Can Cook), Miami Horror pumped out phenomenal ass shakin tracks this year!  It's pretty clear that they've got the groove in the palm of their hands and that they're on their way to the top!  Peep the vid for my favorite Miami Horror track entitled Holidays right meeeeeow:

One Step Closer: Red October

Normally I don't give two shits about celebrity gossip, rumors, and/or news but for some reason, Poseidon guided me over to WWTDD today and I stumbled upon some interesting irony.  It was almost as if the mole had heard my New Years resolution (aka making a sex tape with Lindsay Lohan) and answered back by leaking her lurking location; Venice.  

What we shall now dub: "The Hunt for the Red October", is on, and I'm now one step closer to fame, glory, drug addiction, naive vainness, fire crotch flakes, popularity, chlamydia, and massive jugsssssss!  Remember kids, I'm only doing this for you...

Shoé Shoé Jeremé

I wuz chattin it up wit da Splinta at work today and he showed me yet another video gem from Sterling's blog.  I think this vid is twice as funny cause of its irony; out of most the pros I've encountered (whether it be in reality or cyber space), Jeremy Flores has been one of the more humble surfers who actually writes back to his fans, stalkers, and man crushes.  Anyways, just watch the vid and go away, go on, read some books:

Angry Birds N Shit

New Years Eve in Arkansas saw what could have been a perfect score in the game Angry Birds, as more than 5,000 birds mysteriously fell from the sky.  Then, all of a sudden, fish started croaking over too!  

This unsolved mystery was far too large for the likes of Robert Stack, Chuck Norris, MacGyver, and even McGruff the Crime Dog.  So I thought I'd do some prodding of my own, the results are shocking!  Why the hell did these birds fall out of the sky?  Listen closely to the things the kid hates below and we just might have a lead on our hands...
